EMERGENCY INFORMATION

With severe winter weather predicted for the area, LaGrange County Emergency Management Agency would like to remind the public that you will find information about snow emergencies located on this web site. We wll also provide information to WTHD, 105.5, as well as the local news papers.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has created a standardized system that will assist citizens in understanding the various levels enacted by each county. Most of the counties in this area are using this system.

Caution – means that travel conditions may become difficult. Citizens should take necessary precautions and plan extra time.

Level 3 – Watch – means that routine travel may be restricted. Businesses and schools should consider implementing their emergency action plans.

Level 2 – Warning – means conditions are threatening to the safety of citizens. Travel should be limited to only essential such as to and from work, emergencies, etc. Emergency Action Plans should have been implemented by schools, business and government.

Level 1 – Emergency Declaration – means that an emergency declaration has been made. Typically travel is limited to essential personnel only. Roads will generally be impassible. A local county declaration does not apply to state or federal roads.

More information can be found at www.in.gov/dhs. Click on the “All Hazards” map.
